With Google launching Android Device Manager, users can now feel much more safe and can easily retrieve their data if the phone is lost. The Android Device Manager also lets user find their smartphone.
The ADM(Android Device Manager) is similar to Apple’s “Find my iPhone” feature. The ADM will be released for Android 2.2 and above for which a application will soon be released.
Benjamin Poiesz, Product manager of Android was quoted saying :
If you ended up dropping your phone between those couch cushions, Android Device Manager lets you quickly ring your phone at maximum volume so you find it, even if it is silenced. And in the the event that your phone or tablet is out of earshot (say, that you left your phone at restaurant last night), you can locate it on a map in real time. Also the Android Device Manager can help you keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands. If your phone can’t be ecovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device.
Google thus has provided the users with a full security towards data theft and also mobile device management offering within its Apps business. As Google’s Android flexes its arm in the areas where they had never been, competitors are going to have to ruffle up a bit. Android now almost powers 75% of the earth’s smartphone users, Google is ensuring that the mark is secured and keeps increasing.
