CEO Marissa Mayer staying up with her word to kill off all the departments which are leeching out the revenue from the company. Latest, the company has decided to shut down 12 more of the products of Yahoo!. Which I think are not of really any significance to any users right now, except one, AltaVista search engine.

AltaVista, a old school search engine which used to be widely used before the Google monster gobbled its share in the market. Although, it was already a dead search engine because in December 2010, a Yahoo! employee leaked PowerPoint slides indicating that the search engine would be shut down as part of a consolidation at Yahoo. In May 2011, the shutdown commenced, and all results began to be returned on a Yahoo! page.

Yahoo! wants to seriously commit itself on the Best Ones only. The list of apps or products that will be taken down:

  1. Yahoo Axis (June 28)
