In the second round of lawsuits filed against Apple by the Writers’ Right Protection Union, which is an organization safeguarding local writers’ online copyright infringements by different internet companies, has won a case against Apple in Chinese Court.
China Daily reported that the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court’s presiding judge, Feng Gang, said Apple has duty of checking whether the books uploaded by the third-party providers are in line with current laws or not and ruled in favor of the authors. Apple will have to pay them 730,000 yuans (US$118,000) for the infringement.
Apple will have to compensate to three writes for copyrights infringement when it sold their books online without first seeking permission.
