Google Maps Returns To iOS.

Google Maps return to iOS after the great failure of Apple Maps, seems like Google does really care about the users then its competitors. Apple Maps were intended to free from its dependence on Google, but the app turned out to be a disaster with number of inaccuracies, missing towns, businesses, famous locations in oceans, putting tourists in the snake infested deserts in Australia.

But do not worry now as the Google maps has made its way into the App Store in 40 countries and 29 different languages which include English, Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Dutch.

“People around the world have been asking for Google Maps on iPhone, starting today, we’re pleased to annouce that Google Maps is here – rolling out across the world in the Apple App Store. It is designed from the ground up to combine the comprehensiveness accuracy of Google Maps with an interface that makes finding what you are looking for faster and easier.” said Google in a blog post.

Google Maps iOS app includes also a novel way for users to report inaccuracies in its own maps. “The world around us is constantly changing and, thanks to feedback from you, we make tens of thousands of daily updates to keep Google Maps accurate and comprehensive.” also providing a hint how to send feedback “If you see something off, simply shake your phone to send us a feedback.”

More Profits for Google

Actually Apple’s move to remove Google Maps and YouTube App is turned out to be profitable to Google, as first they were pre-installed but now as they are developing its own apps they can sell advertisement around them, increasing its revenues.

Google claims that the sharper looking vector-based map will load quicker and provide smooth tilting and rotating of 2D and 3D views. It has more than 80 million businesses and points of interests. Also voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, a feature which not available in Apple before. Users will also have access to live traffic conditions and public transport stops.

Google will also release a Google Maps SDK for iOS and a simple URL scheme to help developers use Google Maps while developing there own applications.
