Will the World End in 2012?

Remember the year 1999 when there were rumours of the end of world then again in 2011 the Harold Camping predicting that the world would end on May 21, 2011, and when that didn’t happen, he predicted the date to be October 21, 2011,again nothing happened we are still alive and nothing much changed around us .

All of the latest Apocalypse talk has focused on the Mayan calendar which predicts end of the world on December 21, 2012, people all around the world are saying that the end is coming, everything around us will perish and the earth as we know it will change completely resulting in swiping of most of human race from the face of the earth, so is it really going to happen? Is the end near …???

Why the year 2012?

The predictions of the world end are based on the Maya Calendar created by the great Mayan civilization which predicts the end of world on 21 December 2012. The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on 21 December 2012 This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date, though none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship.

Mayan Calendar

The Mayan calendar is the most amazing, as it contains a complete description of the magic cycles, including this current crossing of the Threshold. The Mayan calendar was created in the year 3372 BC (using the Christian calendar), just at the end of the last cycle. The Mayans described the cycles as “worlds”, and stated that only certain life forms made the transition from one world to the next. The calendar, written over 5,000 years ago, predicted the exact day the Threshold Level would be passed. If we convert the Mayan dates to the current Christian calendar, it correctly states that the Threshold would be passed on December 24, 2011. On that day, the first Great Dragon was seen in Japan. The precision is amazing.

Atlantis sank on August 12, 3113 BC, thus marking the end of the Fourth World and the beginning of the Fifth. The Sixth World began on December 21, 2012 AD, and will end, according to the Mayan calendar, on April 4, 7137 AD.

How will the world end???

There are various theories as to how the world will end One theory suggests a galactic alignment which would create chaos on Earth because of the gravitational effect between the Sun and the Black hole called Sagittarius A, which is located at the centre of our galaxy. Another theory involves a ‘polar shift’, which means a reversal of the north and south magnetic poles. There are other theories as well predicting earth getting hit by giant asteroid producing catastrophic results.

Is it really the end?

Well whatever may be speculation going on but it doesn’t look like the world is going to end soon. Experts estimate the system starts counting at 3114 B.C., and will have run through 13 baktuns, or 5,125 years, around Dec. 21. Experts say 13 was a significant number for the Maya, and the end of that cycle would be a milestone — but not an end.

Even the NASA scientists have been thoroughly studying and analysing the possibility of the Earth ending in 2012, but conclude that 21st December 2012 it will be nothing more than a normal solstice. There is simply no scientific evidence to support any claims of an apocalypse on Earth in December 2012.

In response to theories about planetary alignments leading to an apocalypse on Earth on December 21, 2012, the scientists say no planetary alignments will occur in the next few decades. But even if they did, the effects on our planet would be negligible.
NASA also says the ‘polar shift’ theory is totally impossible. Although continents move slowly throughout time, a magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next 5000 years and wouldn’t cause any harm to life on Earth.

Based on the facts we can confidently say that the Mayan calendar does not imply the end of the world, only the end of the Mayan long-count period. The ‘long count’ is a part of the Mayan calendar shaped like a wheel. When we reach the end of the wheel, it will simply turn to the beginning again, just like our modern Gregorian calendar starts again every year at January. Well we can give theories and predictions but in the end nobody knows what will happen in future, December 21, 2012 will be the Judgement day for entire human race, we will have to wait and see what the future holds for us.
