Samsung released some pictures on its Facebook page of a black Galaxy S III showing alacrity that the company was going to release that specific color. Now UK smartphone retailer MobileFun has also launched a pre-order page for the black edition of the Galaxy S III indicating that the company will be releasing the new color in some 4 to 6 weeks.
The unlocked black version will cost the same as previous white and sky blue versions – £499.95 for 16GB – and also no change in the technology used.
Samsung Galaxy SIII for now comes with:
- 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 720p display
- a quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.4Ghz
- 1GB of RAM
- 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording
Samsung SIII was first released with the white version of the phone throughout Europe, with the blue variant of the handset having some strange clouding issues on the casing which was soon corrected. Also there is one more color offered by AT&T , a Red version in the United States.
Clearly this move suggest that Samsung wanted to generate more revenue by just changing the color of the mobile. Well for this marketing trick Samsung has earned some points in sales from my side, but soon all mobile companies would recognize this trick and use it against the consumer world. So consumer beware !. I have heard that Apple is releasing iPhone 5 , will it be using the same trick ? Lets just wait for Tim Cook to cook something better for the company as well as consumers.
